GT inlet, a few questions.
« on: September 10, 2009, 10:11:08 am »
Few Q's about the manifold off a GT.
I know you get more top end power, and less low end torque; but I've been 'uming and aring' about one for a while now.

I do like the low end grunt in my G at the moment, is the torque sacrifice noticeable? is it worth the loss of it for the extra at the top end. Cause we all know on a G-lader all the 'smiley' power comes at the top end anyway?

And to link with the topic going on in the 'Superchargers' section at the moment, I've read that it will reduce the charger boost pressure, but obviously its the same volume of air just in a bigger space, does this help the life of a charger as there is less back pressure?

Soo many questions about a 'simple' upgrade sorry!

Thanks!

i'd say low down isn't that noticeable on a chipped and pullied car - on a stock pulley it becomes a little laggy

if you have a smaller pulley (i.e. more than standard boost) then it's not even noticeable at the bottom end.  It's a win-win situation.

So with an R1 and 65mm toothies it won't even make a difference low end?

That is a win!

Just wanted to know if it drops the power too much that I would have to shift down a few gears to overtake instead of just giving it some boost at low end revs to overtake!

haha gotta love the lazy low end boost overtake!
