Standard G40 alloys currently running 175/60 Firestone ditch finders, looking to change and was thinking 175/50 but this would make the speedo under read by a bit so have been looking at going slightly wider to a 185/60. I know this will make the speedo over read but whats folks genral opinion on this or should i just stick with the limited choice in the 175/60 size ???

you can actually get 185 55 13s, choice no better really but at least you maintain rolling radius if you wanted wider.
you can also get 195 45 13s too in conti

Would a 195 be too wide on a 5.5" wide rim? Also just worked out that a 195/45 would under read even more than a 175/50 :o

175/50 the speedo over-reads massively, and even on stockish height suspension I found compromised ground clearance too much. I used them because Yoko A539s were dead easy to get hold of in that size!
Have also run 185/60 in the past, which were okay - but a bit like balloons. If I couldn't get a tyre I liked in 175/60 I'd go for the 185/60 instead.

Went for 175/60s in the end, got a good deal on a set of A539s :)

Thought they stopped making the a539s in 175 60? Where did you get them from?

They seem to have started again!
More and more sites have them. Blackcircles is one.
