Uprated Drive shaft question??
« on: November 15, 2009, 09:04:32 pm »
Just getting round to fitting my uprated drive shaft, from a group buy earlier in the year, and I've realised (on the inboard CV joint)that the OEM shaft has a shoulder to which the sits a cup washer to provide a tight fit for the shaft in the spline's(ie the shaft won't float within the splines).
How have others rebuilt there uprated drive shafts into the inner CV jiont, have you just left it out?? Or placed it under the retaining washer/cir clip to provide a posistive firm fit?
Cheers

When i fitted mine, i seem to remember fitting a splined dished washer i got in a new VAG boot kit. Original dished washer was not splined. For some reason the boot kits have both types in there.

Looking at this, it was probably on the outer CV that i fitted the teethed washer.

Yeah the one on mine is not the splined type, just a cup washer, I've fitted it under the circlip for now so at least the shaft is not going to fret to and fro in the CV, and the only float movement is the CV 'joint' itself.
