Title: Steering rack gaiter
Post by: james22sniper on February 11, 2013, 03:45:47 pm
Hi All...
Does anyone have any handy tips on replacing the central steering rack boot? Tried to do it on the car but cannot squeeze the large open end over the rack end. Gonna have to remove the rack but it will still be tricky!
Thanks in advance!

when i fitted one to my bready i used a right angled hook to ease it over the lip and also spray some WD40 up there, it will make it a lot easier but they are tight don't get me wrong, shouldn't have to take the rack out tho

hope this helps

I've never done that particular job myself but when trying to do things like that it's a good idea to put the rubber boot into some recently boiled water for a bit to heat it up and make it more pliable.
