As my gearbox is going to be rebuilt (I think 2nd is damaged) I thought I may as well invest in an LSD at the same time.
I'd like recommendations on what you think would be the best one to go for.
My criteria is;
-Must work as a daily driver, 30miles Motorway, 10 miles A/B-roads
-I'd rather not have really heavy steering, don't mind a little bit more weight for low speed manoeuvres, but whilst driving I don't want to have to hang onto the wheel to get it to turn
-I'd rather not have to rebuild/ service it for a while (I do about 25k/ yr currently)
- I'd like it to make the car more responsive, but not at the sake of driveability- I read about some diffs being horrible in the wet, or really "snappy". I like to play about a bit an tend to slide/ lift off oversteer round most corners/ roundabouts when it's quiet.... but I don't want to have to battle with it constantly.
I'm not bothered about drag racing or track days, I just want to make the car more fun really and if poss, reduce torque steer and the 70/80 mph wheelspin that tends to occur through corners. The car's off the road for 6 weeks now (ideally OTR start of March) as I have a temporary shitty corsa diesel (I dont get that car- its horrific to drive!) and literally about £1k of upgraded bits to fit including lowered/ stiffer suspension, brake upgrades, subframe, and many other service/ worn items.
I plan on keeping this car the rest of my life (may not, but who knows! I think it's almost the longest I've owned a car-ever!) so don't mind spending a bit more money if it's justifiable.
I'm currently thinking the Quaife option would be best, but always good to hear others input/ advice!
Lastly, where would you recommend it be fitted (at the same time as servicing/ repairing the box)? JP Race in Silverstone is the only place I remember, having seen about 15-20 people on here/ PSD forum all praising their work- also not too far away from me.
