yeah so was driving down this country lane, hit a really bad pothole, and shortly after noticed i had a lot less power, and battery light came on so checked under the bonnet and as thought the belt on my charge had obviously snapped and come off, but surely it couldnt of come off beacuse of the bump? its a 65mm pulley so i know its more strain so likely to snap , is it jsut all the tension and a massive hit thats done it?
secondly, is it easy to refit a pulley, i have a spare one? soes anything need to be adjusted or corrected, or is it a case of on off?
thanks

standard belts or toothed belt conversion?
-
pretty sure there toothed conversion, i know stupid but how do you tell, guessing the teeth etc? which yeah does have

If your charger has two grooves and there is two very long.ribbed belts then you have std.double.v belts and a standard or smaller pulley.
If you have one belt which is.quite wide and has square teeth, that is a toothed belts.
If in doubt take a pic of your charger pulley

If it's a toothed belt, it's probably a 1040 which comes VERY close to the roll bar mounting. If so check clearance with your new belt and maybe grind a bit off the mount. Don't overtighten the belt;a 90' turn between finger and thumb on the longest run is all you need.

Can't think why I mentioned the belt length as relevant; bald moment I suppose.

vee belts will look something like this;

a V shaped belt with notches along the pointed bit from one side of the belt to the other
Toothed belts will look something like this;

a flat belt with teeth running side to side all along it
Serpentine belts look something like this;

flat belt with grooves running down it as opposed to across it like the vee and toothed belt
Those are just generic pics off google images, hence the "something like this" bits ;)
