Been looking at both of them actualy, what makes macs worth the twice price cause you can get a windows laptop with the same hardware spec for half or evan a third of the price.

I thought the whole point of a mac was that it didn't use the window interface, and was a big up yours to the big Mr G?  Also because it didn't use windows, the OS was sooo much faster?

Im also getting a laptop when im in the US in April so be good to know the difference?   Cheers.

Oh can you run windows natively on a mac these days? Seems daft though but then I wouldn't run windows no matte what laptop it was ;)

The point of a mac is that aside from it being the best, easiest to use OS, they're also bloody good quality hardware.  Best LCD screens on the market.

I've recently got a Macbook air and the only time it has crashed is when the couple of windows aps I've run on it have died. Also for the size of the screen it is by far the smallest, lightest, thinnest device I've seen by miles.

When it logs in its just ready to use straight away and shuts down in seconds.

Mac's aren't double the price by all means, just cause a laptop has the same processor and ram doesnt mean its the same, macs come with a lot of extra things which spec them up like the multi touch glass trackpad, bluetooth (ambient light sensor for screen which auto adjusts brightness and backlit keyboards on the pro's) and OSX is an amazing operating system. (even on a hackintosh)
You can run windows natively on the intel macs, runs really well - i had it for games until it started getting on my nerves!

Dont buy a Macbook just yet as there at the end of a cycle so due for an update anytime soon, check out on http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/
Hope this helps in the purchase of a Mac, you will not regret it at all, best computers on the market in my opinion, Macs are for people that want to get on and get the job done!

Hmm I see, I know MacBooks can run windows and I would like to be able to play games in it so I want a top end graphics card for it unfortunatly the ones with high end graphics cards are over my budget. So Im going to look into Sony viao as you can build them custom on the site not sure if you can do this with macs ? The other one I've been watching out for is an asus g73 it's got a top spec list but it's not a mac it's got
i7 processor
8gb ram
500gb hard drive
80gb solid state hard drive - for very speedy operating system
Ati 5850 top of the range graphics card
17" HD screen and a blu ray player it's up for £1k on eBay
I'm torn between that and a mac or a viao thanks for the input though guys I'm going to go have a go on a mac 2mro

I've got a vaio. They are really good laptops. Mine's a 17" one and has lasted 3 years now. Getting a little slow but thats couse the hard drive is nearly full. I think mine has intel duo core T7250 processor @ 2ghz, 2gb ram and the graphics card is NVIDIA 8400M GT. plays games really well, like flight sim, sims, command and conqeur etc.

Antony, i just bought a mac book pro 13" and i have to say there awesome. I dont think i could go back to a windows operating laptop. There different to get used to but after a day of playing i find it easier to use. Especially the track pad. Its awesome.

Will pop round tomorrow, if you want i could bring it round so you can have a look and play?

And there soo fast. Battery life is amazing too, and the screen is soo clear and brilliant. I know there lcd screen but are they hd as well? Looks like they are.

HD isnt anything tbh - pc / laptop monitors have been 'HD' for years and years and only in the last few have they advertised it. had a 22" CRT screen about 10 years ago that was more than 1080p
