Interesting question me thinks, how old are you? I am wondering at what age do you say i am too old to own and mess with a Polo G40?
I am 28 and i still love my G, even more so now, but i can't see myself ever parting with it, if i had to get rid of the G or the A3 then i'd be very very stuck on what to get rid off!
-
old enought to know better!!!
-
19 ;D
-
i'm 25, if it came down to it i'd keep my G anyday and get rid of my merc, only thing is my mercs more reliable,
-
im 19 aswell,

it started of as a gt and is nearly a fully finished conversion project!
-

-
I'm 26 (yesterday, actually) - I've owned my car since I was a few weeks off being 17 and tbh I can't see myself ever parting ways with it.
-
I'm 25 I've had mine for nearly 5 years now. I reckon i'd probably sell my R32 before the G although I can see myself selling it at some point next year maybe.
-
I'm 37 but I've had my G40 since I was 25.
-
21, had the Polo for 3 years!
-
26. 4 of them in the G!
-
29 and not as old as Pete I might add
-
meh,
yes I am 30. and I've had a g for the past 8 years. Not one G, 5 actually, 4 of them tornado red!!!
-
since this seemsto have turned into a "how old are you and how long have you owned a g40 for" thread, I feel I should inform you that I have owned a g40 for getting on for 6 years, always the same one though!
-
29 and i,ve had my g for around 7 year i think and i aint never sellin it
steve
-
Quite interesting to see how many people have had them for a long time, speaks volumes I think!
I've had 2 G's (one white, one black) since 2002 and I'm now the grand old age of 29, so not as old as Pete!
-
21- owned my Polo for 5 1/2 years now ;D
-
26, had the Polo for 8.5 years - had a PY lump in it for 6 years now.
-
32 makes me old then. have had the g for 10 years.
-
25...had my G 3 and a half years....and had a coupe before then from 17..
-
23 and had the Polo (GT shell) for 6.5 years. Never selling, was my first car, probably be my last!
-
im 28 and owned my g 2.5 years and loving it
-
Crap, i'm the oldest here at 33!! :'( Only had the G for 3 weeks!! 8)
My 4th Polo though!! ;)
Also had 1 Mk1, 2 Mk2's, 1 Mk3, 1 Mk4 (Golfs), 1 Lupo and a Passat est in the last 8-9 years!! :D ;)
-
No you ain`t. I`m 44 and aint had a full working G yet.
Bought a conversion some time ago and scrapped the
shell coz of stress cracks beyond salvage.
On with rebuilding the engine and now have Tom`s/Juans
old Red G40 shell wich needs work as well.
Had a mk2 Polo C the 1 with a boot for 5 years on the road
and its been in me garden for 5 years as well being a storage shed
wich is about to be scrapped.
Had a pileoshite Fiat estate for 3 years and me latest 1Ltr Mk3 Polo coupe
for about a year as a run around.
Fred.

41 - the oldest swinger in town (15 years ownership) - I win .... i think
-
haha ill leave it to you old fogeys to battle it out then, lol :D ;)
-
I'm 42 but I don't consider myself too old to have my mk2 Polo project.
I'm sure most of my friends quietly think I'm a bit err, well too old for this kind of thing. Most of them are far more impressed by their flashy modern cars. Not me though.
I've had my mk2 breadvan for 7 years now, basically a superb condition low mileage car that I bought to go to and from work in. However, it was only a matter of time before I realised I could retro fit many of the later mk3 better parts and yet keep the much better looks (IMO) of the mk2.
I've had a couple of GT's and of course Alan Lawrences (Poloace) M reg black G40. This I stripped/scrapped and now have its 1341 engine in my breadvan.
-
im 28, and bought my first polo when i was 19, ive owned a fair few G40s saved a few, and scrapped a few, had my current G40 for 5 years i think
I get embarassed when all my mates are talking big flash cars, but that goes out of the window when you leave them sweating at traffic lights.
I do think, when will i grow out of G40's, ive come close, but i get drawn back, i will grow out of them when i want to!
-
I don't think I'll ever grow out of mine. I reckon it'll progressively look more standard as I get older though.

That's funny you should say that, when I get mine back on the road I was thinking of putting the standard orange indicators and side repeaters back on.

18 - am I the youngest?

Ooh you just beaten me dad there!!
Always remember Grasshopper, the name of the game is to get old. The other option isn't so attractive.

Fifty when I got my first G back 95; a low miler with a history which, if I'd known at the time, I wouldn't have touched with a bargepole. It turned out to be a really sweet reliable wee beasty and I put in 140k piss myself laughing miles in it. I was born in 45 so I think I'm about thirty now. I just don't look in mirrors; not even rear view ones nowadays. There's another G owner in Inverness who's older than me by a couple of years. Mind you I haven't seen him about for a wee while.
-
I'm 30 and have had my G40 for 8 years.
I honestly can not see myself ever selling it.

Im 29 and Ive had my G40 for 6 1/2 yrs now. Unfortunatly after only a year and a half I scrapped the shell as it was fecked and had the pleasure of storing everything else in the garage for 5yrs.
Bought a cheeky wee new shell with a bit done to it last month so the G40 will soon live again. Aye right ::)
-
22, had the G a year
-
am 27 (28 in couple of weeks). had my wee bugger for nearly 5 years and its never going to be sold. i would rather sell my house and stay in a caravan if it came to the crunch, but selling my other polo and her car first.
-
35 and counting. Had my now G40'ed Polo since '99
Spending too much time thinking about my new Supercharged VW (Scirocco) to worry about the G40 now a days :-\
