How much fuel (litres/60miles) a well maintened, stock G40 , needs with 80-95 mph motorway drive?
-
I managed from £20 last weekend which was more or less 3 gallons of fuel 170 miles
-
I've achieved consumption as low as 5.6litres per 100km driving through Belgium, but it's usually between about 7 and 8.
-
Really? I thought that i should see 8-9 litres... In case that you didn't noticed i'm talking about 80-95mph...
Isn't your cars, both tweaked guys?
-
I'd be looking at 10 litres at that speed in a stock G.
-
Obviously the trip through Belgium was at 70mph and just cruising, not ragging it. But I don't see much over 8 even if I'm driving around town. And yes mine's modded.
-
@etches: You burn only 4.2 litres/60miles??? or i am calculating something wrong?
@Alex: That figures (7-8L) is with 70mph motorway driving only?
@John:10 litres!!!? What a modded g40 should expect in that speed?
-
Well the maths says that for every gallon (4.54 litres) i got 49.54 mpg at 75-95mph so for 60 miles its roughly
5.70 litres

wow is that what a standard G can do?
best i can get is 40mpg
-
well mines a proven 135bhp just got a smaller pulley n chip to suit.

Ooooh... I thought that a gallon=3.78lit, i did't knew that british gallon had a different rate...!
Btw.. I burn, 6.5L but with 60-70mph... I can't understand.. Stock chip/pulley, new λ, new blue temp sensor, well set co, cleaned injectors.. Is there anything that i haven't replaced that effects fuel consumption...?

your maths? haha sorry.
tires can make a quite big difference to consumption, good brand / pressure. i found induction kits also increase consumption
-
A straight motorway run from Hamilton to Exeter(400 miles) in my standard G used 13,5 gallons at an average 80mph. That's approx. 6.5 miles /litre. Noodling along at 40/50mph max I once got 48 mpg//10miles/litre.

Between 70 and about 85-90mph depending on the road. But yes.
-
I bet you are sorry now for your good looking 14" rims! ;D
-
Hahaha... There's nothing wrong with the 14''s Mr.Alex...To be honest i haven't noticed any difference in fuel consumption after fitting the 14''s...
The problem is the increasing fuel price my friend! ;D ;D ;D
-
I'm getting ~280 miles a tank (40 litres +/- 1litre). Mostly hard driving or 80-90 on motorway
Only mod on mine so far; derestricted the outlet on the airbox and took the feed off the back of the headlight

no kidding, my averaged went up after putting that feed behind the headlight back on
-
And the same happens with the derestriction of the airbox...
-
Makes sense I suppose, more air = more fuel
