Just collecting parts (still) for my carbed solid lifter 1.4 turbo engine. Currently I have an R5 carb, GK inlet, flat faced mech lifter head (Can't remember the code, but it has the larger ports) GK cam (apparently the solid lifter GT equivalent) g40 bottom end, abd bottom end and a KO3 turbo. Obviously its far from standard (and together as an engine) but I'm wanting to know what sized intercooler to use. I have a standard G40 one, but after reading various topics and articles on turbo charging, I'm begining to think it may be a little small. Also, its quite fat and short. I understand I really want a long but thinner one? Whn installed, it shall have plenty of air flow going to it, either due to ducting or positioning. I dont want to run meth/water injection, but I'd like to have a safe 1.0-1.5 bar of boost if possible. Target power is between 160-180bhp. Achieveable do we think?
