rocking engine?
« on: June 14, 2014, 06:01:08 pm »
I've swapped the engine and box mounts for new ones as they were well worn and since then theres a clunking as if the whole engine and box moves when i change gear. it feels terrible. all the mounts are tight and in right. Also when i start the car it sounds as though the exhaust hits the bottom of the car now too for a few seconds. reversing is worse. and the gearbox vibrates to shit on the subframe on overun. help...

Did you use standard ones or poly ones?

Are they done up too much? Did you flatten the mounts if so it just vibrates the cab to much

I found the standard ones a bit too soft and the engine moved around quite a bit, so went for poly ones and is much better

Thanks taylor

is it possible that the engine & box have moved slightly?  and it's not moving any more than it was before but because of a different position the exhaust is hitting making it feel like it's moving more.  With the mounts loose the engine & box will move about quite a bit so the position can have changed.
