Title: MK2 G40
Post by: Jacque on March 17, 2016, 12:23:48 pm
Hi,

What are the mechanical differences between the MK2 (500 limited) & MK3 G40? (just found a genuine mk2 G for sale)

Mainly enginewise: are these also PY engines or different? other things i should keep in mind?

i know mk2 dont have kat, but not much more...

grtz

im not 100% sure but I think the kat is one of the only differences which is why the mk2 had 2 bhp more on paper. im pretty sure it still has the py lump in it though. possibly a different intercooler on it? im sure one of our more knowledgeable members will correct me if im wrong.

The MK2 uses an airflow meter instead of a map sensor, and does not have a cat. They also use a slightly better intercooler positioned in the spoiler/lower valace

Different charger too with a shared inlet/boost return hole.
