Title: Old fuel
Post by: dub-disaster on July 29, 2011, 05:55:56 pm
Got a can full of Old fuel that I sucked out my tank before I changed it it sat in the tank for about 12-18 months when I removed it from the tank recently still smelt very strong like petrol does is it ok to mix it with some new fuel or am I better chucking it, just seems a waste to chuck a gallon of fuel with prices these days !

Dunno about water just wondered if it was still ok to use after a long time ?! Think I'll dilute it with some new stuff 2:1 ratio of new to old.

I'd stick it in the girlfriend's car when it had a nearly full tank and just tell her it was fresh fuel ;)

Her cars a diesel though. I think it will be fine mate. My old 6n sat for about a year with the same fuel in it and when i got it back on the road it was fine.

I'd stick it in an empty tank then fill it with fresh stuff so it gets properly mixed, that'd be a 1:8 ratio so much less likely to cause problems than a 1:1

Assuming it's been stored in a proper fuel container and not an old orange squash bottle or something :p

Yea I dilitued it 2:1 with fresh fuel and it was stored in the fuel tank of the car for the most part then in a plastic fuel can.
