Anyone got a decent close up pic of the inside of a brake drum, particularly interested in the bolts holding the stub axle on. OR does anyone KNOW the rating of the VAG bolts? 8.8/10.9 etc?
Cheers

Just use 12.9 if in doubt.

Pretty sure there 10.9 I'll take a photo if you want got some in the garage at the moment, although I shall be using 12.9 Allen head bolts because I can get them free from work compared to paying large amounts from VAG

The issue with the 12.9 bolts is that the allen head is too tall and fouls the bearing dust cover preventing you from properly tightening the bearings. I can get 10.9 bolts the right length to accomodate the the 5mm spacers I want to run but I want to make sure 10.9 will be sufficient.
According to this thread http://www.clubgti.com/forum/showthread.php?t=207798&page=4 (http://www.clubgti.com/forum/showthread.php?t=207798&page=4) they are using 10.9 for much bigger spacers than mine. Just don't want to get this wrong...

PS, the pic would be good if you can get it!

if you get stuck later, ill dig around the bolts box and see if I can find one

I think I can just make out 8.8 on the head?

Jesus. How many carrots do you eat?

you can get shallow headed allen bolts, my local hardware store does them. if not could you not just grind/ mill off the tops slightly of some 12.9's?? ill go and look in the garage later tonight ive got a bag full of these bolts but i still think they where 10.9
