Title: is my g40 precat?
Post by: wbaxter90 on July 15, 2010, 07:02:21 pm: its a PY engine code, i think that makes it the age where i dont need a cat, am i right.
just i was going to change the engine details on my log book so i can legally run without a cat.

If your car was regestered after the 1st september 1992 it will need a cat, unless it was made 6 months before the 1st september. My car was regestered on the 2nd of september 1992 but comes under the non cat test when its being m.o.t'ed as it was made 6 months before.

Post by: G40supercharged on July 16, 2010, 08:55:09 am: ETKA has a list of build dates against engine numbers. There is also a list of chassis numbers against build dates. All UK G40s came with cats but most were built in the first half of 1991 so should be cat exempt (if you are prepared to argue the case). My K reg one was 18 months old when it was first registered and was built just a few weeks after my H reg G40.

Post by: Jezza-7 on July 17, 2010, 11:20:13 am: Yeah, my 6n had a decat and when it had a mot the emission's were very very high. Just get a sport cat or put the cat on for the mot?
