hello,
VW Action is about 3 and a half weeks away now. There seems to be a lot of people interested in going to this and we can book a club camping plot. We need to know numbers though. Please put your name down in the list if you want to camp with us lot, I've left ten spaces but we can book more if needed. We need to know numbers quite soon to get some space booked:

Looks like me and the wife are going but will be rolling in a motorhome!

Are we going for club camping or general camping?
I only ask because club camping is fucking miles from the entrance at Pod, whereas general camping is on the way in.

was gonig to go for club camping. When you say miles from the entrance, what do you mean? The main gate for the whole place or miles away from the entrance to the drag strip for people running their cars? If the former then does it matter?

Scratch that, actually. Just looking at the map of where everything is at Action and it's quite different to Bug Jam and USC.
At the two Pod shows I've camped at, the access road on the way in has general camping on either side. The club camping is all the way around at the other side of the site, at the end of the drag strip behind the two rave tents. It takes hours to get out from there, and it's miles away from where the show is.
Action's different, general camping is still in the same place but club camping is moved to the start line of the drag strip. That makes club camping a better bet!

Think I will be, just ordered some tyres for my 14"s.
Won't be anywhere near how I want it to be, but it's been 3 years since I got some times in at the Pod and I promised myself I'd get my finger out this year!

It's my daily at the moment, and with standard driveshafts I'm not sure I want to risk it. Otherwise, I'd be up for it.

Alex- you'll be ok with stock shafts :)

With 170lb/ft and 2nd gear launches with a paddle clutch and semi-slicks I never broke a shaft or CV, so you'll be fine!

Yeah nowt wrong with stock shafts, I did 8 runs or so at springfest no bother and then drove the 100 odd mile back oop north.
Will run myself depending on how busy it is etc and how many others are running. Be nice to have someone to talk to whilst queuing, can get quite boring if you're on your tod.

Ill be at this with 4 other mates in their g40s, but we will be in the general camping area as we have a few other cars coming to, which arent polos, 1 not even a vw! i will be on the strip though so hopefully see you guys there!

I've got a few issues to sort on the car but if I can get them sorted this weekend I'll probably run mine.

yeah I've booked a plot for 7 cars and put it next to the club polo one.

Does anyone know what the deal is with the night racing? What time does the running finish?
I am trying to get down for the whole weekend but wedding plans look like i am only going to be able to make it for the Sunday, i have heard that there are other proper drag cars which are going to be running too giving us VW's less track time.

i went last year mate, its the fia drag cars that go on the strip but not much really. they are just setting things up cos its the drag finals the weekend after. think the saturday is rwyb

RWYB is only on the Saturday I thought, night racing and Sunday is vwdrc, top fuels etc...etc...

ah just read on the action website stating that RWYB is only on the Saturday. Toss.
i'm determined to do this event so i'll have to do some rearrangements of the plans!
