g40 engine parts
« on: August 19, 2009, 08:59:54 pm »
Looks like I will have a complete g40 engine for sale soon. One of the pistons melted, causing scoring to the bore. Needs either re borring to a larger diameter piston or needs to be sleaved (£100 to be sleaved + cost of a new piston). The head has a schrick g40 cam, 3 angle valve seats etc... there are slight cracks in the head between one inlet valve and the spark plug, and 4 of the exhaust valves and the spark plug. The crank is in very good condition, as well as the 4 conrods and 3 remaining pistons.

Also have g40 exhaust manifold, inlet manifold, a set of either g40 or g60 injectors (depending on what I decide to use).

Also, what is a rough price on a standard charger, un abused etc...

If anybody is after any parts then please get in touch via pm or leave a message here and next time I check ill reply to you :)

I will take photos to show exactly the damage to the engine, and can get photos of everything else if needed.

i've heard (not sure if its true) that there isn't enough metal to successfully sleave a g40.. The maximum over bore is 2mm before you get to tge water jacket etc.  So a 1mm sleave i wouldnt think is doable.

The block is only therefore suitable for an overbore

Pete I was told by an engine specialist here in South Wales that it would be possible to sleave the engine, as  I was going to have it done, untill my mechanic sourced another engine to use so we went along this route. The quote was £100 to sleave the engine, I personally am no engine builder but take the knowledge of somebody who has been rebuilding engines for 40+ years. I will ask him about the water ways next time I can get a hold of him (hopefully tomorrow).

The charger has been serviced, which I did not know about. It has Jabba Sport markings - JS 362 S4, rebuilt on the 02-02-01. So it is a stage 4 ported charger with a full rebuild. The engine had 78k on it when it was taken from the car.

If you are interested, give me pm and ill reply asap

pictures soon

Cheers
Dan
