Title: G40 into a golf......?
Post by: DoogalDoog on April 30, 2009, 11:22:00 pm
Can anybody enlighten me on this? Just thinking about future plans for my golf and want to know wether this would work?

Would you be able to fit the G's AWD into the golf?
If not can it still be put down through the front wheels?

Guessing that it should work its just ive never seen this before, and am i right in saying that the G40 engine starts of the same as the 1272 engine I have in my golf at the moment?

g40's are front wheel drive only!

iv seen a couple of mk1 golfs with g40 lumps in,
i think you have to have engine mounts made to fit the engine?

Don`t know wich Golf you have but this is one ive been working on.
It is a MK1 Caddy Pickup and I`ve married half the original Caddy engine
mount from the passenger side to half the G40 Gearbox mount.
On the Drivers side i welded the cut out section of a Polo MK3
Chassie leg and cut into the Caddy leg and welded and smoothed it all in.
Its not my Caddy but somebodys off here.
I`ll leave it up to him if he wants to further assist you.

That's nice work Fred. You'll be getting commissions if you're not careful.

Wouldn`t mind really John as i were made redundant a while back
and i have little work.
Machined some tooling today for a Mandrell Bender and made this
Pulley for a mate Yesterday.
