why would a belt loose about 12 teeth? and wear out the pulleys quite bad??? after not alot of miles.
-
belts do go - they pick up stones etc.
What toothy kit are you using?
-
its out of alignment.
one side of your tooth will be razor sharp, caused by the full force of the teeth hitting a single point. This then chews teeth. And the vicious cycle continues

can happen if you are using a belt with the wrong tooth profile too, do you know what belt you are using?
-
some are just softer alloy than others

this is bang on, its exactly what happened to me, went through 2 belts in a matter of months, changed to a steel pulley kit and found one of my old pulleys was spaced out alot more than the others and the alloy was worn more on one side.
