Title: Cam followers
Post by: Robin on December 25, 2008, 08:52:03 pm
I'll be fitting a new 1341cc high lift cam in a couple of weeks time ready for the RR day, along with the cam i'll change the water pump and cambelt.

Does anyone change the cam followers when doing the camshaft?

They are quite expensive so i rather not do them if they rarely fail or cause problems.

Lifters must be changed when fitting a new cam. Not doing so will lead to premature wear on the lobes of the new cam, and they are not that expensive

he's right as they wear with the original cam so the tops will be an irregular shape which will increase wear on the lobes of your new cam.  New ones will be nice & flat so they will wear to the shape of the new cam.
