Title: had a power run on the rollers today
Post by: liam on April 01, 2011, 07:36:45 pm
not impressed with the results it came out at 140bhp.

i was hoping for a bit more than that.

I am hoping to get im touch
with ppp for a custom map because i would like to be at around 160 plus could that be possible with a custom map

It all depends on the the spec of your engine. Was that figure at the wheels or flywheel? Personally I'd sooner have a conservative power figure rather than some over the top claim. All dyno's and their operators differ. Where did you have it done?
A custom remap is well worth doing once you have done all the mods you intend to. Smoother power delivery, better economy and driveability plus if you're lucky more grunt, it really is a win win situation.

did they just do a power run? if so they could be the timing (mech with a vernier cam pulley) and ignition could be tweeked to get more maybe.

they did tweek the ignition a bit and it got six more horses but they left  vernier alone

yeah that figure was at the flywheel, it was 115 at the wheels. It was fone at steve walford motorsport down the road from me it has all the required mods for the ppp stage 5 chip and should be capable of 170bhp. ]

You'll want a custom map for sure from someone who knows their stuff to release the full potential of your engine and through runnin efficiently you'll also keep your engine healthy. Any generic chip is good as a base but should be a base only really with a custom map when your confident with the engine ( so it doesnt die and waste your money on a ustom map)

Cant speak personally for Ppps mappin skills but they are held with regard on here so worth a shout. As for any other mappers who know G's ill leave others to leave their experiences :)

The inlet of the stock airbox has a restriction (the upper part), is it removed in your airbox when you did the 1st power run?
