yes I've done a couple now.
What I do is carefully cut through the welds on the steering arm mounts using a dremel and thin cutting discs (you'll need a lot of them!). Then slide the arms down the tubes and weld them back on lower down. Cut off the original bottom spring seat, slide the tube over, cut to length to suit and then weld it in place.
It's not that hard but cutting through the welds on the arms is quite time consuming. I've seen others were a laser/waterjet cut new steering arm mount has been used.
