Title: Charger to Intercooler Hose
Post by: Robin on November 09, 2008, 10:48:05 pm
Chaps

I am trying to get hold of a samco or similar make hose to go from the charger to the intercooler, the current one is just a straight pipe and keeps popping off due to BOOST...............

Does anyone know where i can get one from or what dimensions i need?

Most people will probably tell you to use a 45 degree elbow pipe.

Personally speaking though I would only use a VW one.

In my opinion the accordion effect of the OE VW pipe is required to prevent straining the intercooler. It absorbs the movement you get between the charger and intercooler. the charger moves relative to the intercooler (which is bolted to the body) as the engine rev's change and the engine moves on its mounts.

pretty sure its 57mm internal diameter. think some people use silicone 45 degree bends. I've bought a meter of marine exhaust hose because its a little flexible. Its corregated and good for 3 bar of pressure. Could sort you with some of that pretty cheap if you were interested...
