Is £600 a good price for complete engine/box
« on: December 07, 2011, 10:28:19 pm »
Hi
Just wanted to know if £600 is a decent price for a complete G40 running gear.

Inc engine, G-lader, mani loom ecu G-box.  Been in storage for several years, under 40k miles, charger/ecu built to produce 160bhp, valves all been re-lapped, charger rebuilt / ported. all work was done by VW specialist but never ever actually used or fitted.

Just thinking of getting it incase I ever need it.

Thanks in advance, Dunx

If it all works then bargain! However i'd like to know the condition of the charger and how it was stored.

I'd say the stored for several years bit, could cause problems with things corroded and seized and such like. If it's been stored well could defiantly be a bargain !

Id say go for it if you have the money.

Could you check it over to see if it turns freely before you buy it?

It has been stored in a regulary used clean dry modern work shop.  All engine holes blocked up.

sounds like a decent buy - the box is about £200-250 normally and even if the charger is stock and unserviced, if serviceable its worth £100
