Get a block and get it bored. Shouldn't cost more than 1k.

Go for 1500cc, if you want to be powerful and low boosted

I've yet to see a 1.5l 1W/PY hybrid make more than 185bhp. Having said that, Tony Lo's Mk2 G40 is supposed to be ~220bhp from memory, achieved with a 1W crank and G60 blower - but then there are two other G60'd 1341cc motors I know that do similar power figures. I hope someone proves me wrong, but I'm yet to be convinced that long stroke is the way to go for power. Torque is a different matter though!

What amount of boost they were running-do you remember Andy?

Tony had a 68mm pulley on a G60 IIRC, so 1.3bar (ish)- he did have Jenveys and a few more tasty bits though!

ive not seen a 1W run high boost yet!
with the correct turbo and cam - could be a surprise in the making. + lets remember that its 185 without high boost or straining the motor like a 1272

But several 1341cc lumps with the same bolt-on bits as Nick's have made 190-195bhp at Aldon over the years... I have my suspicions that long stroke/rod length stops it from revving as well, as the big bhp 1341ccs liked to rev so could make the power.

If it were me I'd turbo one and see what happened. A K04-015 and 268° cam would be my starting point. Shame that they're so pricey to build, as I'd like to do it as an experiment - was tempted by Rob's engine, but had more important stuff to spend my cash on!

Well with you and Pete plodding along with said builds it wont be too long ;D

It would be interesting to see what mine and a 1341 put out with no blower unit on ;)

Presumably it's the 77mm pistons that you use to go to 1341?

yeah well i think they are just under 77mm - but 77mm near enough

From what I can see they're in 0.5 mm increments.

Soooo, it looks like I've sourced a bottom end and a head. I'll hang on for a week or two on the off chance someone sells an already built set up, but in the meantime...   Where's the best/cheapest place to source forged pistons from?  Also, any preferences in manufacturer? I can see Wossner & Accrylite are popular but any other? Who's best?

I went for wossner. Available through TSR at £499. Usually available within a week. Lovely quality. Gotta be careful with the 3 piece oil control rings when fitting though as i discovered. Tapered ring compressor helps. IIRC Accralite do higher comp PY pistons. Depends what your after. Wossner retain the factory compression.

I went into my local machine shop Agra Engineering Dundee
they quoted me £150  for the 2mm bore
£120 crank re ground.
and also  were working on a price for ACL big end and main bearings.

so dont seem to expensive to build your own 1341! just labour if you cant rebuild yourself

I would also ad a big valvel head to that list, with bigger inlet and exhaust valves, and cam would have to be in the 266-270 area, depending on lift and so on

Somewhere around 185-195 the head flow needs to be improved
