Well you’ve been a great help.i had an hour on it last night and think I’ve done it the cam mark is about 1mm in front of the pointer on the plastic cover and the crank mark is perfect.managed to hold the crank still with a long spanner with my foot.turned the crank twice by hand and it all turns nice and freely so hopefully I’ve managed to crack it this time just needed to stick at it

does the g40 flywheel have a dot for tdc...viewed thru the little bung on gearbox?

It had it running yet that’s Fridays job will let you know the outcome it’s all back together now ready to start.i did wonder about mark on the fly wheel as there’s as plastic bung under distributitor on the gear box always wondered what it’s purpose was.

Does anyone know about a timing mark on the fly wheel that can be viewed through the plastic bung?i really don’t trust my crank pulley.i can see a pin that sticks at when looking through the bung but I’m unsure of whatvto line that up with any input from anyone please
