Bosch W5DPO are the standard plugs. There was a lot of hoo haa about this about 5 years ago when a spate of people melted pistons seemed to happen and I remember a lot of people blaming the wrong plugs. Whether that was the cause or not I don't know, but I don't think there's much reason to change from W5DPO's unless it's heavily tuned.

I wouldn't like to comment on any other make, not saying they aren't fine, but I had a few running issues when I had NGK's (I forget what type) that seemed to disappear as soon as I bit the bullet and paid £25 a pop from the dealer. May be able to get them off ebay a bit cheaper. there used to be a guy that sold them. There's W4DPO's too, I think they're for the mk2 G40 though, although there's only 2bhp in it and I believe that's due to the Cat fitted to our mk3's, so I'm not sure why they're different plugs. Running temperature perhaps?

BP7EVX are what i use.

You can also use BP9EVX or something. They are for ferrari's though but fit g40s. I think yoof used to them when he was running nos.

I have never had a problem with the NGK plugs and if you go to unipart you can get them for about £18, where as bosch are like £10 a plug.

I have bosch W5DP0 in my G40 and I so happy with this.

What is better, the W5DP0 or W4DP0??

BP7EVX are the NGKs to use. Yoof used BP8EVX which are a heat range colder still for use with gas. Bosch plugs work the other way, so W4DP0 is colder than W5DP0.

If you're running a high CR and lots of boost and want Bosch plugs I'd look at the W4DP0, if you want to run NGKs then BP7EVX are fine - NGK list them as an alternative to both W4DP0 and W5DP0.
