hi guys ive just done the head gasket on my g and now the earth to the gearbox is turning it to a live its heating up and sparking ive tryed cleaning it up but still does the same any ideas?  Huh

You'd have to be doing pretty well for it to go live. More likely you've missed the alternator-end earth cable from the chassis to the engine, and without it the gearbox to coil earth is getting hot.

yeah as above, you'll be missing other earth straps so there is too much current flowing through that one
