My charger seals have failed and i need to get home tomorrow (200 miles).

Is it possible to run the engine without the charger? A few weeks ago i stripped all the teeth of my belt (as my timing pointer came loose) and i drove 50+ miles without no problems. A/F mix was good the only thing i had was the battery light coming on, obviously cause the belt was gripping the alternator. Didnt go on boost either as i thought it might make it worse.

Now instead of using all my oil i was planning to do 2 things:

1: disconnect the charger belt and find a smaller one to run the alternator, also disconnecting the oil feed to charger.
2: If i cant get a smaller belt i was going to disconnect the oil feed and just drive off boost all the way home. Charger is fucked anyway so its gonna need a rebuild now.

Ive driven a good few miles with no charger belt before, just drive at half throttle because the air intake suddely comes from the boost return side of the throttle body. Obviously the alternator wasnt running either!
Time for a pair of tights for the alternator belt?
