Hello again.  next question!!!

Do i use the standard g40 conrods or will it be worth upgrading the rods as well as the pistons??? i have got a spare complete GT bottom end with rods ect. and the g40 bottom end i am using has still got its crank, rods and pistons still in it.
also quick thought would the GT rods be up to the job of handling a turbo??  i'm goin to the bigger 1341cc as well.

We (1341) all run standards rods and have not known of any failures.

I was told G40s use the same rods as the other polos. So if you want to be super safe then find a 1.0 and rape the rods out of that.

On a slight tangent - I am going to be doing some tests on rods to see how much stick they can take so do you mind finding the mass of your pistons please?

the rods in all the 1272cc engines are the same as far as i'm aware and are plenty strong enough for any boost levels you plan to run, never known any issues with the rods in a g40 engine

My ABD rods are way weedyer than Polo ones and have been fine so far.

Its Revs that tend to kill rods though, not power.

I talked with guy fm Wolksburg nd he told me only thing what you hv to change are pistons (if want bigger power) everything else is ok. strong bottom, rods are the same on all models. (I'm using GT rods)

all the rods are the same in the 1272cc polo engines, ABD rods certainly aren't the same.

I will try not to rev my car too much then, I might get one of those rotor arms with the centrefugal contact breaker out of an earlyer model.

Any idea on the spec that killed the ABD rods?
