Are these people for real?!

I'm proposing I don't tax, insure, MOT or maintain my car. Because I'd be driving such an illegal deathtrap, I'd be a model driver to avoid attention from the boys in blue. Ergo, I'd drive more safely.

think this might be a flippant comment due to budget pressures taken to the nth degree.

Agreed they do slow them down, but surely cause damage to cars and cyclists!  And if they are traffic calming, they need to be signed.  ' CAUTION - EXCESSIVE POTHOLES'

they don't calm traffic anyway, they make it worse because people swerve about at the last minute to avoid them.

what a f**king plum.  It's dicks like this that make this country proper shit.  I heard something off this bloke at work that the amount of road tax we pay we should have the best roads in the world but the percentage of our tax that they actually pay towards the roads means theyre not!..dunno how true this is though?

It's very, very true;but successive governments have been so embarrased as to why the money isn't spent on the roads that they had to escape from the problem questions. Now it's not Road Tax you pay so when you pay your Vehicle Excise Duty, fuck all goes on the roads. A big chunk goes to maintaining Britains lead in other forms of transport such as Railways......Railways...
